Love in the time of COVID-19

The National Museum of Australia gratefully received a donated set of the Love in the Time of COVID prints, a not-for-profit online group exhibition curated in 2020 by GAGPROJECTS in Adelaide. The series presents a range of artistic responses to COVID-19 from around the world.

One of the prints is by Melbourne artist Ceri Hann, showing an arrangement of scrabble tiles, reminiscent of the many games and puzzles played at home during the first lock down. At first glance the tiles appear to read ‘Alone’, while a second look reveals ‘all one’.

Ceri has said of this print, “Blank and lettered game tiles imply that the world is yet to be written … we make better sense of the world together. Art has a great capacity to engage with the unknown.”
