Smoke

I was so affected by the fires, its impact on the environment, the pain and anguish for people caught and the stories of bravery of the fire-fighters that I wrote and recorded a song about it. It is called Smoke because that sight and smell consumed our lives.

So it’s very volatile and of course we had, really, eucalyptus which is in the air. It’s volatile too so it just explodes. It’s very, very terrifying.

The fire has still came over so even though we were very well prepared. There was over 200 firefighters here from various areas in Australia.

SINGS: Standing on the beach
With these wounds in my feet
People crying
Where are we supposed to go?
They say it’s under control
But we all know

Their fight is fighting fires
Should we pull in our lighters?
But it’s more than cigarette smoke
Superheroes come and save us
Is it too late for the neighbours?
Help me, I can’t go

Have to stay far away
The smoke is here to stay
Hold your breath so you don’t choke
Have to get away from the smoke
I watch with teary eyes
Look across the burning sky and
I don’t lose hope
It’s only smoke
They won’t let you choke
On the smoke

Standing by the hill
Suddenly I feel ill
Always going in for the kill
My favourite places are burning
Tired of the world, it’s turning
Though we’re still here

Their fight is fighting fires
Should we pull in our lighters?
But it’s more than cigarette smoke
Superheros come and save us
Is it too late for the neighbours?
Help me I can’t go

Have to stay far away
The smoke is here to stay
Hold your breath so that you don’t choke
Have to get away from this smoke
I watch with teary eyes
Look across the burning sky and
I don’t lose hope
It’s only smoke
They won’t let you choke
On the smoke

Getting harder to breathe
Smoke suffocating me
Never felt so much hurt
I had to watch the cities burn
Still hard to see the lights
Too scared to sleep at night
I have so much to lose
I’m still holding on to you

Have to stay far away
The smoke is here to stay
Hold your breath so that you don’t choke
Have to get away from this smoke
I watch with teary eyes
Look across the burning sky and
I don’t lose hope

Have to stay far away
The smoke is here to stay
Hold your breath so that you don’t choke
Have to get away from this smoke
I watch with teary eyes
Look across the burning sky and
I don’t lose hope
It’s only smoke
They won’t let you choke
On the smoke.
