There is no way to know when
Mum and dad were meant to arrive a week after the first lockdown started. They live in the Netherlands and since the birth of their first and only grandchild in 2017 they have visited every year. But now we haven’t seen each other in real life since February 2019. In a way, we are lucky that we live in the era of videochat, but at the same time they are in a high risk category because of their age and health. They are now at a point that they just want to get over here, because being in lockdown here or there really is much of a muchness. At least here they would be able to enjoy being around their grandchild. We have literally no idea when we will see each other again and can’t make any plans. It’s scary to think what this might mean. They are my son’s only grandparents. I wish we could have some idea of when we can meet again in person, but there is just no way to know when …
