Family events during 2020 COVID

My birthday late March 2020 – my husband has booked a birthday dinner at the Whalebone Restaurant in Port Macquarie, a very lovely “special occasion” restaurant but everything went into lockdown the week before. We finally got there this year (2021), with some friends who were visiting, a few weeks before my birthday, which was very fortunate as it was devastatingly pretty much destroyed by the floods the week of my birthday. (It has now reopened five weeks later.)
Husband’s 65th birthday April 2020 – we had a Zoom party with everyone providing their own food and drink. Certainly not the big party I had planned but at least it was great to be able to get the family get together in some fashion.
Grandson’s 5th Birthday October 2020 – he lives on the Gold Coast and we, his maternal grandparents, are in Port Macquarie. We couldn’t enter QLD and the QLD family couldn’t travel past the “border bubble” to us or they would have had to quarantine on return to QLD for a fortnight. So… We rented an airbnb in Fingal Head, inside the QLD “bubble”. Grandson and his parents stayed with us for a few days and his other grandparents and other relatives just came for a day for the birthday party.
Niece’s wedding November 2020, postponed from April 2020 – held just outside the Greater Sydney area, which was in lockdown at the time., on a rural property. Travel to and from QLD had opened up so our daughter and grandson from the Gold Coast were able to attend the wedding without needing to quarantine upon return, which would have been the case had the wedding been held in the Greater Sydney area. The bride’s brother is currently living in the USA so he arrived three weeks prior to the wedding and spent the first two weeks in quarantine, the third week was just in case of any positive tests, fortunately he was clear and was able to spend two weeks with the family before heading back.
